Colon cancer along with breast and cervical cancer is considered to be one of the ‘big three’ cancers that is prevalent in North America. The colon is the ‘tube’ at the end of our digestive tract which stores waste prior to its expulsion. Survival rates for early stage detection is approximately 5 times that of late stage cancers. Staging is crucial because the spread of infection at diagnosis is the most potent predictor of survival, and treatments are frequently altered based on the stage.
