There is one point in my life when I thought I would die as a direct result of alcohol. I was so depressed and emotionally downtrodden that all I could think of was drinking to wash away my sorrow. But what happened was I got addicted to alcohol and eventually it became very hard to quit. I struggled for quite some time but with the right measures in place I made a successful mind shift and got my habit under control.
The company you share with contributes a great deal to how well you cope with the new transition. The friends I had hardly thought twice about spending a huge sum of money on alcohol within hours. Secretly I realized that this was going to be my downfall because I saw nothing wrong with our condition because we were always together.
But when I moved out and started staying in my own place I was able to abstain from binge drinking and assert myself more by having the only and most superior opinion in my flat, I was staying alone. When you live with people who don’t represent what you want to become a transition will be very difficult indeed.
Finding an alternative source of entertainment for relaxation times is a good way of fighting an alcohol addiction. I remember upgrading my computer and making sure I could play FIFA or WWE Smack down and i even invested in a left handed electric guitar. I realized that life is smoother and much quieter if it is experienced without too much alcohol involved.
Sometimes people who are addicted to alcohol are abusing it because they will be trying to fill an empty void in their life. The empty void in my life had suddenly become not having friends that shared the same mindset as mine. So I sought to make sure that I surrounded myself with people who thought like I did. And even though I wasn’t anticipating having a girlfriend I eventually met a woman who represented all that and more. It is more like sorting your clothes in the home storage shelves if you want to enjoy wearing new clothes.
Eating healthy and making sure you have enough food is a surefire way to quit alcohol. When a person is an alcoholic they sacrifice a necessity to fuel their addiction. And in most of the cases it is good food. Take some time off alcohol and satisfy a hidden urge to eat properly cooked food. Believe me, the very instant you feel the pleasure of living healthy you will never go back.
Anyone with an addiction problem can get over it if they focus for long enough to see themselves changing. Just never give up and lose sight of your goal whatever you do. Be sure to suck the power out of your addiction like a dyson upright vacuum cleaner would suck out dirt form carpet.
