Choosing to prefer just to mope around and not eating properly or get enough sleep, a depressed person may well be on their way not just to mental illness but poor physical health as well.

As their mental health gets worse so will their ability to concentrate even on the simplest of things. Lack of attention to what is being said on or around them; depressed individuals also have trouble recalling events that may be recent.

Symptoms of depression can also include poor sleep patterns especially too much or to little sleep. Just as with sleep, eating can also be affected with either the person eating too much or too little. If the situation has been going on for some time, the depressed person may start being preoccupied with death, especially their own as well as other physical conditions such has stomach problems, headaches for example.
