Drug abuse can lead to drug dependence or addiction. Drug addiction may also follow the use of drugs for physical pain relief, though this is rare in people without a previous history of addiction. The exact reason of drug abuse and dependence is not yet known.

The genetic make-up of the individuals, peer pressure, emotional distress, anxiety, depression, and environmental stress are all factors which seem to be involved. Children who grow up in an environment of illicit drug use may first see their elders using drugs. This may put them at a higher risk for developing an addiction later in life for both environmental and genetic reasons.

Drug intoxication and drug overdose may be accidental or intentional. Drug withdrawal symptoms can occur when use of a substance is stopped. Withdrawal symptoms vary, depending on the particular substance. The withdrawal symptom depends on the length of time the drug was being used. Drug intoxication, overdose, and withdrawal can be life-threatening in some situations.

Drug Rehab was brought about to combat the evil effect of drug addiction as its use became more and more prevalent among teenagers and adolescents. The punk and rock culture that was prevalent made the use of these drugs appear ‘cool’ and once caught in the grip of this evil, the individual became more and more dependent on its use.

It is often advised that a patient stays at least 3 months in drug rehab, as those who stay longer have better results than those who spend less time.

Kick Drugs Out Of Your Life

Drug addiction is on the rise since a long time. The belief that drugs can offer relief to your problems is highly publicized and promoted, which leads many people to get addicted to them. What people don’t understand is that this temporary relief from tensions and problems of life can lead to just more depression as time passes by.

The physical and emotional pain in your life can be a bit too much at times. But what you need is counseling and facing the problems and challenges of life with courage. Drug use is not going to provide long-term relief. In fact, it can do more harm than good.

With continued use of the drug, the body’s ability to produce certain essential chemicals required for normal functioning of life is diminished because these chemicals are replaced by the drug. The body then uses the drug as a substitute for its own natural chemicals. Deprived of its own resources (and the ability to create them) the body perceives that it needs the drug to function and demands the drug, through physical cravings.

And more cravings mean more drugs. Self-respect and confidence in oneself turns into confusion and lack of self-worth, leading one to fall into a trap of strong addiction. Then the addict spends loads and loads of money, neglects his family and friends, starts losing concentration at work and drowns himself into drugs and more drugs.

This is where drug treatment comes into play. It involves detailed intervention of the patient and his condition, the reasons for addiction and a devising a treatment plan that would suit him the best. So if you have such conditions or symptoms, get help now. A drug rehab consisting of good therapists, years of experience and decent facilities for treatment and comfort is the best option that you have. One such rehab is the Cliffside Malibu.

Now that you know the facts, let the Malibu Eating Disorder Treatment Center help you right away. Have any other kind of addiction? We will solve your problems- Sober Living Malibu.

Denny is an eighteen-year-old adolescent who has finally decided to go and see his doctor about his excessive and hazardous drinking. At first, Denny thought he would be able to basically go on the world wide web, look for some fundamental alcohol info and determine whether or not he was an alcoholic.

Not surprisingly, he discovered several websites that outlined some of the common alcoholism symptoms. That’s the good news. The less than encouraging news, unfortunately, was that Denny manifested quite a few of these alcoholism symptoms.

Symptoms of Alcohol Addiction: Some Examples

As a case in point, Denny has been drinking a lot more than usual and he has begun to have more passionate quarrels with the female he is dating. In addition, for the first time in his life he has been experiencing sleeping problems. In a similar manner, Denny over and over again has felt depressed and on an escalating basis he has been displaying less than usual concentration at school. Moreover, he has felt highly stressed and more nervous on a day-to-day basis and for the past six or seven months he has manifested murky thinking at school. Seeing as Denny has been exhibiting all of these symptoms, he was understandably apprehensive about his unhealthy and excessive drinking.

So Denny eventually made up his mind that he needed to call his family doctor and ask for an appointment. In fact, this was hard for Denny because his family doctor was also his parents’ family doctor. The basis for his uneasiness was this: at the risk of embarrassing his family, he had to go and divulge his abusive and hazardous drinking behavior to his family physician.

When Denny arrived at the family doctor’s office, he overtly informed the family healthcare practitioner about the trepidation he has about his irresponsible drinking behavior. When the family physician asked what was setting off this fear, Denny affirmed that he had gone online and read about alcoholism and especially about alcoholism symptoms. He then mentioned all of the alcohol dependency symptoms that he plainly thought he possesses.

A Thoroughgoing Physical Appraisal and Outpatient Alcohol Rehabilitation

The healthcare professional informed Denny that it was smart of him to concentrate on his drinking problems, he gave Denny a complete physical exam, and suggested that he talk to his Mother and Father about registering in an out-patient alcohol treatment center that was managed by Doctor Levine, one of his doctor friends who is an alcohol addiction specialist.

In much the same way, when Denny articulated that he has been feeling depressed to an increasing extent, the physician notified Denny that depression and alcoholism on a fairly routine basis transpire in the same person. Consequently, the family doctor also recommended that Denny talk to his Mom and Dad about getting therapy to tackle his sense of despair. In fact, Denny can go to the local counseling center and make an appointment with Doctor Wallace, an eminent psychologist who specializes in treating youth.

The Advantage of Coping With Your Drinking Problems and Getting Motivated About Making Healthy and Positive Changes in Your Life

The healthcare professional made it a point to inform Denny that he might not inevitably be addicted to alcohol, but that he was obviously drinking in an irresponsible manner. Stated another way, Denny was involving himself in teen alcohol abuse. The physician then told Denny that the reason he recommended alcohol treatment in the first place was because he wanted him to face his drinking issues, make sure that he prevented them from intensifying, and start to live in a more healthy manner, even if it meant that he had to fully abstain from drinking.

In a word, by successfully treating his drinking problems, Denny would be able to get his drinking problems under control and quit the negative sequence of events that could most likely result in alcoholism.

Denny undeniably did not look forward to facing his parents about his depression and his drinking issues. And he undoubtedly did not want to face the thought of getting admitted into an alcohol rehabilitation program. And finally, he was not overjoyed about going to a counselor about his sense of despair. In spite of these fears, nonetheless, Denny in fact experienced some emotional relief for the first time in quite a few months because at last he quit making excuses for himself and finally made up his mind that he needed to do something productive about his unhealthy drinking.

Jeffrey was a ninth grader who regularly seemed to be living on the edge. Jeffrey had a daring personality and usually wanted to do what his older brothers were doing for fun. The central drawback with this was that all three of his brothers were at least 21 years old and were for than reason able from a legal point of view to operate a car or truck and to consume alcohol.

Jeffrey, on the other hand, had a rough time understanding the fact that as a fifteen-year-old young man he should not be drinking alcoholic beverages. In fact, however, Jeffrey often drank with his friends after school, especially on the weekends.

One weekend, Jeffrey was invited to drive around with some of his older friends. One of his guy friends was old enough to purchase alcohol. After purchasing some beer, wine, and wine coolers, Jeffrey and all of his buddies went to a park and drank for something like two hours.

Jeffrey Experiences Alcohol Poisoning Symptoms

After drinking more or less ten glasses of wine, Jeffrey started to feel nauseous and then vomited. When he became unconscious on the baseball field, one of his pals called 911 for help. It was fortunate that the call for medical assistance was made because when his buddies went to the hospital to see Jeffrey, they learned that Jeffrey had been going through alcohol poisoning symptoms. Stated briefly, Jeffrey had overdosed on alcohol.

When Your Friends Drink Excessively

Jeffrey had learned that drinking in a hazardous manner can result in an alcohol overdose but he never thought that this could ever happen to him. After all, some of his pals over and over again bragged that they could drink an entire case of beer in one day without suffering from any serious difficulties.

Armed with this information, Jeffrey was actually taken aback to learn that he had overdosed on alcohol because he “only” had approximately ten drinks. When he explained this to the attending doctor at the hospital, in spite of this, the healthcare practitioner notified Jeffrey that drinking ten alcoholic beverages over a two or three hour period of time could surely be quite a bit more alcohol than can be metabolized by the body. The healthcare practitioner further articulated how too much alcohol can cause the brain to shut down a person’s respiratory system and that when this occurs, a person can expire.

The First Symptom of Abusive Drinking

This was the first cautionary message to Jeffrey that he was drinking in a harmful fashion and that there are ramifications for such activities. The doctor told Jeffrey that he was a fortunate person because he almost died from an alcohol overdose the previous night.

The healthcare practitioner also spoke to Jeffrey’s parents and suggested that they get alcohol counseling for Jeffrey. His parents were pleased that Jeffrey was out of harm’s way and informed the healthcare practitioner that they would get Jeffrey alcohol counseling.

While talking to his parents, Jeffrey told them that there must be a solid reason why he did not die and that he felt thankful that he was still alive. He also notified his parents that the weirdest part about the entire drinking episode was that he had learned about alcohol poisoning the last six week grading period at school in Mr. Franklin’s health class.

When Paying Attention in Class Can Change Your Life

At the time, what his health instructor, Mr. Franklin, was articulating didn’t seem to make too much sense to Jeffrey. Now that he almost died, on the other hand, he felt that he should have listened more intently in class and applied what he had learned to his personal life.

Jeffrey informed his parents that he couldn’t wait to go to Mr. Franklin’s classroom and apologize to Mr. Franklin for not displaying more attention to a subject that was as noteworthy as learning about alcohol abuse and how to avoid alcohol poisoning.

His parents smiled at Jeffrey and said that they were overjoyed with the way he was being responsible for his destructive actions. All he had to do now was to let this near fatal experience change his life in a productive manner so that he would never again suffer from an alcohol overdose.

For more than a few years alcohol addiction research has revealed the fact that there is strong relationship between alcoholism and critical health conditions.

As an illustration, in 2005, scientific research and alcohol abuse and alcoholism statistics revealed that alcohol abuse and alcohol addiction cost the United States an estimated $220 billion per year. It can be emphasized that this enormous alcohol-related expenditure was substantially more than the cost linked with cancer ($196 billion) or with obesity ($133 billion). While it is appropriate to highlight these facts, it is also important to highlight the fact that an interrelationship exists between all three of these health problems.

Stated another way, chronic alcohol abuse and alcohol dependency are also highly associated with obesity and with cancer.

Without a doubt, substance abuse research has demonstrated the fact that alcoholism can increase the risk for different types of cancer, particularly cancer of the voice box (larynx), esophagus, liver, rectum, colon, kidneys, and throat. Abusive and recurring drinking can also result in immune system issues and deformity to the fetus during pregnancy.

Irresponsible and Excessive Drinking Breaks Down the Individual’s Systems and Organs

What is more, if alcoholism continues over a period of years, the person’s body organs will probably be affected in an unsafe manner. As an illustration, long-term, hazardous drinking is especially harmful to the liver since the liver does most of the work of processing the alcohol that has been consumed. Excessive amounts of alcohol kills liver cells and eradicates the ability of liver cells to regenerate. This condition leads to a progressive inflammatory injury to the liver that can sooner or later lead to cirrhosis of the liver, an acute and possibly deadly medical problem.Abusive, long-term drinking not only can lead to dangerous liver damage, but it can also result in damage to the heart and to the brain. Physical damage this critical may be irreversible and may, in turn, result in severe disease or premature death.

The Relevance of Alcohol Rehabilitation

It is vital, therefore, to know how to recognize the different alcoholism symptoms and the “alcohol signs” so that the alcoholic can be given the opportunity to get the professional alcohol rehab he or she requires.

Alcoholism and Technologically Advanced Brain Research

Fortuitously, medical exploration is constantly finding original and significant information. Recent alcoholism exploration provides a first-rate illustration. More correctly, for approximately the past ten years, complex brain-imaging scanning devices have shown that continuous and chronic abusive drinking changes the constitution of the brain to a great extent, thereby resulting in brain disease that can last months, years, or possibly as long as the person lives.

More exactly, medical examination has revealed that people who have been drinking in an irresponsible manner for a sizeable length of time increase their risk for developing long-term and serious alterations in the brain.

This type of damage may be directly related to the alcohol’s effects on the brain, to severe liver disease, or might be indirectly associated with the drinker’s poor overall health.

Malnutrition, Excessive Drinking, and Mental Disorders

As a final example of different health problems that are to a large extent correlated to alcohol addiction, consider that in accordance with medical research, the hazardous and repeated abuse of alcohol can result in erosive gastritis, a medical problem that lessens the absorption of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients.

This kind of organ breakdown is related to malnutrition and to an assortment of serious mental and neurological disorders including memory loss, sleep disturbances, and psychosis such as Wernicke’s Encephalopathy and Korsakoff’s syndrome. This latter health problem is a long lasting incapacitating medical condition that is epitomized by continual learning and memory difficulties.

Conclusion

It is obvious that repetitive, hazardous drinking is directly or indirectly related to a variety of serious medical conditions that can and do lead to dangerous ailments and premature death. Such information needs to be underlined and presented to everyone in our society so that a massive amount of individuals will be able to refrain from hazardous drinking while other individuals who have a drinking problem will get the quality treatment they need.

How do you know that you have a drinking problem? When is it evident that you are involving yourself in alcohol abuse?

If you have ineffectively made an effort to discontinue your drinking or if you sworn to yourself that your drinking days are over and then you recognized that you were drinking abusively just a few days later, the probability is incredibly good that you have drinking problems. The bottom line is that if you have tried to quit drinking and cannot bring this about, then your drinking is controlling you, rather than the other way around.

Likewise, if it takes larger amounts of alcohol to get the same “high,” you probably need to recognize the fact that you have a problem with your drinking.

You may be telling yourself that the rationale for your drinking is so that you can lessen your apprehension or get rid of the distress that you feel. Similarly, you may be trying to avoid an injurious situation and may be looking for something better, more positive, or less regretful.

As you continue your drinking, on the other hand, you will comprehend that drinking does not elicit the same high and you will also realize that drinking doesn’t help eradicate whatever led to your discomfort in the first place.

As you continue to drink in an excessive way, regrettably, you may become addicted to alcohol and, as a consequence, you may add another major predicament to manage rather than unearthing more successful and wholesome ways of dealing with your alcohol-related predicament.

An Alcohol Assessment is Probably Warranted

If you have figured out that you have a problem with your drinking, possibly the most expedient thing you can do for yourself is to call your physician or healthcare practitioner and schedule an appointment for a complete physical and for a review of your drinking circumstances.

If you beyond a doubt feel that you have a crucial drinking problem, it might be a good idea to get prepared to find out that you need to get alcohol therapy.

At this point, what are your alternatives? You can indisputably refuse to see your general practitioner and persevere with your pattern of irresponsible drinking.

It actually doesn’t take a wiz kid, nevertheless, to have a handle on the fact that continuous, abusive drinking, if left untreated, will worsen over time and most likely bring about an early death. For that reason, your healthiest option is to confront your drinking problem and obtain the alcohol rehabilitation you require.

The Pretense of the Functioning Alcohol Addicted Individual

It is somewhat peculiar to note the fact that several alcoholics lead busy and active lives and have vehicles, jobs, pets, houses, families, and any number of material possessions similar to people who are not alcohol dependent.

Many of these “functional” alcohol dependent people may have never been cited for drunk driving and may have been fortunate enough to avoid all alcohol induced legal predicaments. In spite of this good fortune, to the contrary, these alcohol addicted individuals need to drink in order to deal with life on a day to day basis while keeping their facade as they associate with the outside world.

Ask anyone who has seen them when they are engaging in one of their drinking binges or in a drunken stupor or ask a family member about the problem drinker’s alcohol dependency, conversely, and they will be quick to affirm the authenticity of the drinker’s situation and the particulars about the alcohol addicted individual’s drinking circumstances and about his or her alcohol induced difficulties.

Why Do Individuals Addicted to Alcohol Fail to Perceive Their Drinking Difficulties?

As alcohol dependency research and statistics on alcohol abuse have underscored, no matter how evident the alcohol induced predicaments seem to those who interact with the alcohol dependent person, alcohol dependent people frequently deny that drinking is the source of their alcohol produced predicaments. Not only this, but alcohol addicted people frequently blame their alcohol-related issues on other people or upon other circumstances around them rather than seeing their part in the difficulty.

The origin of the issue is that alcohol addiction is a disease of the brain. Once the drinker has become alcohol dependent, he or she often resorts to denial, manipulation, and lying as a way of coping with the fact that his or her drinking is out of control. And to make things worse, the experience of alcohol withdrawal symptoms typically circumvents the alcohol addicted person’s rare attempts to suddenly quit drinking. As bleak as the alcohol addicted person’s way of life is, to the contrary, the positive news is that competent help is widely accessible – if the alcohol dependent person reaches out and gets alcoholism therapy.

Summary

Coming to grips with the fact that drinking is leading to issues in your day to day functioning is conceivably the most trouble-free way to find out if you have a problem with your drinking. Stated differently, if your drinking is causing issues with your health, with your employment, in your relationships, with your finances, at school, or with the law, then you have a drinking problem that needs to be resolved.

If you have a drinking problem, furthermore, this means that you are engaging in irresponsible drinking.

While some individuals may be able to recognize their “alcohol signs,” pinpoint their problems, and substantially decrease the amount and frequency of their drinking, other drinkers, then again, need to deal with their drinking difficulties by getting professional alcoholism rehabilitation. Additionally, due to their propensity to deny the facts and warp the truth, alcoholics absolutely need quality alcoholism therapy for their hazardous drinking.

Avoid Gum Disease With Proper Dental Care

end gum disease

Gum disease is on the rise all throughout the world. People from all walks of life, backgrounds, and social classes are not free from the dangers of gum disease. However, most people assume that only people who don’t care of their teeth can acquire this mouth disease. However, that is far from the truth. Therefore, one must be educated on how to
stop gum disease. There are a variety of gum related diseases that anyone can contract no matter how much they concern themselves with proper dental care.

One of the most shocking forms of gum disease is known as Periodontitis. This disease can generally be contributed to untreated plaque and gingivitis. When a person experiences Periodontitis their gums actually start to pull away from their teeth. When this happens a person will actually begin to lose their teeth since they become disconnected from the gums.

The most common form of gum disease in the world is Gingivitis. This form of gum disease actually is due to inadequate dental care. If a person does not brush their teeth and gums on a regular basis plaque and bacteria can form. When this happens the gums will begin to turn red, may become sore, and you may encounter bleeding gums.

The best way to treat any form of mouth related disease is to avoid them all together! Though there are a few gum diseases that can result without reason, the majority of them can be prevented by simply following a disciplined at home dental care program with proper brushing and flossing.

Additionally, anyone looking to end gum disease or to make sure that they never contract gum disease should visit their dentist or oral care specialist at least once every three to six months. However, that may not be enough to correct your problem. You have to educate yourself and find what works beyond these simple precautions. If they worked for everyone, there would be no gum disease problems in the world. And there are, aren’t there?

Jennifer is a forty-two-year-old call center manager who has been drinking quite abusively since she and her boyfriend broke up their relationship.  In truth, for the past eleven months she has been drinking just about one-and-a-half bottles of wine every night, and on the weekends she also has been drinking more than a few wine coolers all the way through the day.  In short, Jennifer has been drinking so abusively and hazardously that it’s a wonder that she hasn’t suffered from alcohol poisoning.

After feeling discouraged because she was starting to ignore her health, Jennifer finally told herself that enough is enough, that it’s time to quit the self pity act, that it’s time to stop the irresponsible and abusive drinking, and time to move on with her life.  So the following Saturday morning at 10:30 AM, she came to a decision that she would quit drinking suddenly and completely without planning or preparation.

When She Attempted to Quit Drinking She Felt Terrible, She Had Utterly No Appetite, She Was Extremely Restless and Moody, She Started to Perspire Profusely, She Vomited Numerous Times, and Her Head Was Pounding

When Jennifer stopped drinking, she reasoned that she would most likely be tempted to have a few drinks, but she never thought that she would feel so sick.  More precisely, around three-and-a-half hours after she stopped drinking, she vomited a number of times, she was extremely moody and anxious, she had utterly no appetite, she started to sweat extensively, and her head was aching.

When she called her best girlfriend and told her that she had quit drinking and that after a couple of hours she all of a sudden began experiencing flu-like symptoms, Emily, her best buddy, told Jennifer to call her physician and explain what was going on.

She Admits to Her Doctor That She Has Been Drinking In an Excessive and Irresponsible Manner, That She Just Tried to Quit Drinking, and That She is Experiencing Horrible Flu-Like Symptoms

So Jennifer called her medical practitioner, told him that she has been drinking in an excessive and hazardous manner for more than a few months and that when she tried to abruptly quit drinking earlier in the day, within a few hours she felt as if she had the worst case of the flu that she had ever gone through.

Her healthcare practitioner told her that she may be suffering from symptoms of alcohol withdrawal and that she should have a friend or family member take her to the emergency room ASAP.

As soon as Jennifer got off the phone, she got a relative to take her to the hospital.  Interestingly, all the way to the hospital, as sick as Jennifer felt, the only thing she could think about was whether or not she might be an alcoholic.

Apparently her family doctor had called ahead and told the emergency room medical team to expect Jennifer because when she got to the hospital, she was met by two emergency room employees who without hesitation told her to get in the wheelchair they had with them.  After getting wheeled to the emergency room and undergoing a couple of basic tests, it was corroborated that Jennifer was indeed experiencing alcohol withdrawal symptoms and was in need of alcohol detoxification.

An emergency room healthcare professional gave her some drugs to reduce the discomfort of her flu-like symptoms and also administered some drugs to help get rid of the alcohol that was still in her circulation system.

An Alcohol and Drug Addiction Healthcare Practitioner Goes Over the Fact That She is Addicted to Alcohol and Then Goes Over What Alcohol Withdrawal Symptoms and Alcoholism Stages Are

After a few hours, Jennifer was taken from the ER and wheeled to the recovery room.  After she was in recovery for around two-and-a-half hours, Doctor Jacobs, a substance abuse and chemical dependency specialist, came to talk to her.  He took quite a bit of time and explained in a clear fashion that Jennifer had experienced alcohol withdrawal symptoms when she quit drinking due to the fact that she had become dependent on alcohol.

He then explained that with heavy drinking on an everyday basis, the individual’s brain slowly but surely becomes accustomed to the alcohol so that it can function in a “normal” way.  When the drinker then all at once abstains from drinking alcohol, it can be pointed out, the brain responds by producing alcohol withdrawal symptoms.  Not only this, but her physician also explained in a clear fashion the various alcoholism stages that an individual who is alcohol dependent typically suffers through as the disease advances.

It is Determined that Jennifer is in the First Stage of Alcohol Dependency and She Receives a Good Projection For a Complete Recovery if She Gets the Alcohol Addiction Treatment She Needs

Fortunately for Jennifer, it was confirmed that she was in the first stage of alcoholism and, consequently, she received a favorable forecast for a total recovery if she will get the alcohol addiction rehab she requires.

Jennifer told the healthcare practitioner that she will do whatever it takes to get sober and to re-establish her health and her life.  She also stated that she has a first class hospitalization policy that will almost certainly pay for most, if not all, of the treatment costs that will be incurred.  It was clear to see that Jennifer was quite grateful about her positive medical prognosis and felt reassured knowing that she will be able to get the alcoholism rehab she needs so that she can start on the road to recovery.
