Chiropractic has proven to be an effective treatment approach for those suffering with arthritis. Chiropractic is especially effective in helping with osteoarthritis which is the most commone type of arthritis. The term arthritis comes from the greek word arthro which means joint and itis which indicates inflammation. Putting it together, arthritis merely implies joint inflammation.

There have been over one hundred types of arthritis which have been classified. The major symptom that people suffer with from arthritis is joint pain. The pain is usually localized to the joint itself, but may also be referred to other areas of the body. This can happen when delicate nerves are irritated around the joint. This will cause referred pain along the pathway of the nerve. The pain from arthritis is often a result of inflammation around the joint which can cause abnormal pressure on the surrounding tissues.

Arthritis can result from damage to the joint following an injury. This injury may result in damage to the cartilage or cushion in the joint space. The bones that surround the joint may also become misplaced. Once the injury occurs, the damage may become continuously worse over time. This is due to the fact that the joint no longer glides properly and results in abnormal pressure on the joint. A good analogy to this would be when your car is out of alignment. When this happens it causes abnormal wear on the tires and they may wear out faster than normal and on the wrong part of the tire.

When our joints are out of their normal alignment it causes abnormal pressure on the cushion or cartilage in the joint space. Like the rapid wearing out of tires when a car is misaligned, our joints can wear out faster when they are out of their normal alignment and in the wrong place.

Numerous individuals fee that arthritis is the result of standard aging. If this were correct, all joints of the body would wear out at an identical rate. Arthritis often only happens in some areas of the body, and unilaterally not bilaterally. It is common for arthritis to happen in a joint that has previously been injured from some kind of trauma. For example a sporting injury.

Chiropractic is great for arthritis in that it helps get to the cause, not just treat the symptoms like traditional medicine. It helps to realign the bones and stop further damage to the joints. The joints will then be able to glide correctly and function ordinarily. Many with arthritis report great outcomes following chiropractic treatment. They report much better movement of their joints and reduction of symptoms. Chiropractic really should be started as early as feasible following injury of the joints. If left uncorrected, the cartilage irreversible degeneration may occur to the joints. Chiropractic should be deemed a main alternative for the treatment of athritis.

If you’re like some of my patients who have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, you know the frustration of dealing with a chronic, and often, very painful and debilitating condition. What you might not know, though, is that new research into fibromyalgia has shed some light on why the condition may develop, what improves it and, perhaps, might cure it for good.

Fibromyalgia – What Is It?

Fibromyalgia is a complex rheumatoid disorder sometimes accompanying rheumatoid arthritis or lupus as a secondary condition. However, fibromyalgia can also be a primary condition. It affects up to 5% of the American population, most of its sufferers are women, though men do get fibromyalgia. It consists of generalized musculoskeletal pain and tenderness in at least 11 of 18 critical points on the body which is the general diagnostic criteria for fibromyalgia. Lately, the drug Lyrica has been used to treat its symptoms.

Symptoms

The most telling symptoms of fibromyalgia that occur in 100% of cases are muscular pain. Second to that, are fatigue, insomnia, joint pain, headaches, restless legs, cramps, numbness and tingling. However, people with fibromyalgia may also experience memory and concentration problems and intense depression.

What Causes Fibromyalgia

Back around 1990 when fibromyalgia was given credence as a chronic condition, the cause of it was largely unknown. However, today in 2011, several areas of research have uncovered new, possible causes of fibromyalgia that include:

➢	Obesity: A recent (January 2011) study by the University of Utah related fibromyalgia to obesity as it seemed to be a common factor in people with the condition. Obese subjects had increased sensitivity to pain in the lower extremities, low activity levels, and frequently had disrupted sleep patterns, some from sleep apnea. When the obese subjects lost weight, their activity and sleep levels improved along with their fibromyalgia symptoms.

➢	Sleep Disorders: Research shows that people with fibromyalgia tend to sleep poorly and do not get the required 7 hours of restorative sleep. Whether fitful sleeping is due to the fibromyalgia itself or actually causes the condition is not certain. However, when fibromyalgia sufferers are able to sleep longer and more restfully, their symptoms are greatly improved. Sleep is a key factor in treating the condition.

➢	Central Nervous System Disorder: Some researchers think that fibromyalgia is caused by a brain/spinal cord problem in regulating pain signals. More intense than necessary pain signals are sent throughout the body in response to light touch. Treatment consists of re-regulating the pain signals with a drug called pregabylin.

➢	Bacterial: New research lead by the Autoimmunity Research Foundation says that a “biofilm” bacterium is actually responsible for fibromyalgia and other autoimmune disorders like Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Lyme disease, sarcoidosis. They all have inflammation as a factor thought to be caused by infection with these bacteria. Treatment involves using the drug olmesartan four times daily to stimulate the body’s immune system to fight the bacteria and reduce inflammation.

What Can You Do About Fibromyalgia?

My patients know that I am open-minded to new research into treating medical conditions, including prescription drugs and alternative medicine. However, I like to recommend to my patients that they at least try, at first, a more natural approach to getting their symptoms under better control. In the case of fibromyalgia, I recommend the following:

➢	Diet/Nutrition: Fibromyalgia may be aggravated, by food sensitivities, or even allergies, which can cause inflammation/pain in muscles and joints. You might try a food rotation diet with an Allergy and Immunology specialist to see if you respond to omitting certain foods from your diet. A magnesium deficiency can keep muscles from relaxing too.

➢	Exercise: My patients with fibromyalgia often say that it is hard for them to exercise because of pain. What I recommend to them is swimming in a warm, indoor pool. Submerging the body in water takes tension out of muscles and greatly improves symptoms. Riding a bicycle, or doing yoga and Pilates can help with flexibility.

➢	Sleep: Getting enough sleep every night seems to dramatically improve fibromyalgia. Therefore, getting and staying asleep for at least 7 hours a night is key to reducing muscle tension and cramps.

➢	Far Infrared Sauna: Decreases inflammation and muscle tension. Try to spend 15 or 20 minutes at least once a week in a FIR sauna. You also sweat out toxins like heavy metals that may be aggravating your condition. Local health clubs may have them near you and usually charge about $20 for one session.

➢	Reduce/Omit Sugar: High sugar intake aggravates inflammation in the body through the acidic environment it promotes. Fibromyalgia sufferers have reported dramatic improvement in their symptoms when cutting back on sugar. Read labels and limit sugar to 20 grams tops a day. This can also help you if you are overweight.

Fibromyalgia is a condition that is difficult to live with. It can sap your enthusiasm for participating in activities and make you depressed. Take heart, though, as many of my fibromyalgia patients have greatly improved, and some even alleviated their symptoms using the above natural recommendations alone or in addition to their prescribed treatments.

Joint pain can be very debilitating. If you, or someone close to you, suffers from it, you know that it can make life difficult. Walking, working, even spending time with friends can become a chore. For many, it is unbearable. In addition to these problems, chronic pain in your joints can cause other medical problems such as heart disease, immune system weakness, sleep problems, and depression. All these reasons make it important for you to get your pain under control.

Joint pain can be caused by many different things. It’s critical that you consult with a doctor to find out the exact cause. There may be more serious medical issues that need to be treated, so it is not something you should ignore. But until your doctor diagnoses the exact cause of your problem, there are many things you can do to alleviate your suffering.

Over-the-counter medications. Nearly every grocery and convenience store carries pain-relief medication. Do not let their availability, and popularity, trick you into thinking they are safe to use indiscriminately. These medications are very effective, but should only be used sparingly and with a doctor’s permission. They can react badly with medications you are already taking or make an existing problem worse. The pain-relief results you experience will depend on the type of medicine, the dose, and your individual physiology.

Glucosamine. This is a very popular natural treatment for joint health. Glucosamine occurs naturally in the body, and is important for re-building cartilage in the joints. It’s most commonly found in capsule form, and can be purchased at your local drug store.

MSM ( Methylsulfonylmethane). It has a long name, but do not let that trick you. MSM is not a manufactured chemical, but rather a perfectly natural substance that occurs in plants. While we can get it from the foods we eat, it’s likely that a supplement is needed for pain relief. It does two things: reduce tissue inflammation and strengthen the connective tissue between the joints. You can find it either on its own, or sometimes in combination with glucosamine.

Food changes. Changes in your diet can have a huge effect on how you feel. Many plants have anti-inflammatory properties, including ginger, tumeric, and foods that are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids. Dark leafy greens, nuts and seeds, berries, and fish like salmon can work wonders to ease pain. You will want to avoid citrus fruits and foods of the nightshade family such as tomatoes, eggplant and peppers. These foods will cause inflammation rather than reduce it.

Acupuncture and massage. Acupuncture has been used for centuries for all kinds of ailments. Lots of people have found a great deal of pain relief from acupuncture treatments. Massage is also a great stress-reducer and has been long used to treat chronic pain. It’s also a really great way to alleviate the stress and depression symptoms.

As you can see, your suffering does not have to ruin your life. There are many joint pain relief options. As always, you should talk to your doctor about any of these solutions. Foods and supplements, though generally considered safe, can interfere with medications you might be taking. It will take some trial and error to find the right combination that works for you, but the relief you will feel is well worth the effort.

Flexcin reviews provide you with the information from consumers who have previously suffered joint pain. You can check the review websites online to see whether the benefits of Flexcin will work for you.

Have you heard of heated slippers? If so, you understand that they offer added warmth thanks to a small bead pack placed within each one. However, did you know that in today’s world they offer aromatherapy benefits? It’s true, and we want to share some of this with you today.

When you grab a pair of heated slippers you are able to choose the type of herbal heat pack your microwavable slippers will be using. In fact, you can even choose more than one herbal pack. The best part is they can be heated over and over again, giving you longevity of use.

While the heat that is packed inside the slipper will successfully stay there, the aroma is the biggest benefit to these heated slippers. The smell in the air is not only intoxicating, but also helps you deal with other health issues such as pain, circulation complications and anxiety.

The best thing you can do is get a better understanding as to what herbs are appropriate for your health needs. A good example is if you’re dealing with aching muscles, headaches, or more serious conditions like fibromyalgia, you should look for white willow, peppermint, rosemary, lemon grass, or maybe even lavender.

Anxiety is a hot topic today, and if you’re dealing with this sort of issue it’s important to utilize herbal packs containing chamomile, passion flower, valerian root, cinnamon, and or spearmint. Circulation issues should be helped with yellow dock root and yarrow.

It is really easy to use these heated slippers. First, you pick the herbal bead pack that is most appropriate for your needs, and then you place the microwavable slippers into the microwave. Typically, it only takes about two minutes to thoroughly heat the beads.

However, we would suggest that if your microwave doesn’t contain a turntable, you should stop it halfway and flip the herbal pack over. This way when it’s finished both sides will be heated evenly. Then the only thing left to do is place the herbal packs in the heated slippers and onto your feet. In moments you will realize the warmth and aromatic sensations building around you.

conditions, that several individuals just like you will benefit from using heated slippers.

Those that suffer from sleep disturbances such as insomnia will likely benefit. These microwavable slippers are multifunctional. Unlike standard slippers that are simply meant to only warm the feet, these slippers work to provide warmth, increase circulation, and enhance the senses!

FindYourSlippers.com is your first place for information and resources on slippers. We will supply you with Heated Slippers, men’s slippers, Microwave Slippers. We are dedicated to help to provide you with everything you need to make the best decision to find the exact slippers that will fit your lifestyle.

Arthritis is a disease which causes pain and damage to the body’s joints. Any joint can be affected, and all will cause different quality of life issues. One of the problems that affects many sufferers is arthritis knee pain. There are different causes for this pain depending on the type of arthritis that you have.

The knee is made up of three bones. It is located where the bottom of the femur and the top of the tibia meet. It is protected in the front by a bone known as the patella, or kneecap. There are a number of tendons and ligaments which hold the bones in the proper alignment and allow the bones to hinge properly. There is also cartilage which is located on the bones and under the kneecap that cushions the joint and prevents damage to the leg bones. A tissue pad called the meniscus also helps cushion the joint.

There are other ways to treat knee pain but it is important to know what kind of arthritis you have since the way they affect the joints is very different. Osteoarthritis affects the bones and cartilage because of overuse or injury. Rheumatoid arthritis is a result of the body’s immune system attacking the joints. It damages and inflames the meniscus. Osteoarthritis tends to be an ongoing process whereas rheumatoid arthritis can have periods where the disease flares up and gets worse, and other periods where it is in remission and symptoms improve.

One of the best ways to treat arthritic knee pain is through the use of anti-inflammatories. NSAIDs are non-steroidal anti-inflammatories and they include naproxyn, aspirin and ibuprofen. They treat the pain and inflammation, but not the underlying cause. Rheumatoid arthritis sufferers may require DMARDs, disease modifying antirheumatic drugs to treat the disease and keep joint damage from getting worse. These include methotrexate, azathioprine and others. They are serious medications that may have significant side effects and should be used carefully.

There are several surgical options to treat knee pain. They include scoping the knee to repair or remove damaged cartilage, repairing a torn meniscus, or a total knee replacement. Total knee replacements may take quite some time to recover from but artificial knee joints can help you return to a high quality of life.

You can also try some of the topical products that are on the market. There are a number of effective creams and lotions available. They have different active ingredients and some work by cooling the joint. Others work by heating the joint gently. Your doctor can tell you which products are better for your particular situation. It may be tempting to stop using the joint but you need to make sure that you don’t do this. It will only make the joint stiff and unusable. You may want to consider exercises such as swimming that use the joint but do not put weight on them. Physiotherapy is also a good alternative for you to explore.

Treating arthritic knee pain does not have to be difficult but it may take trying several products before you find the ones which work best for you. Talking to a doctor or pharmacist can be a great first step to getting you on the road to recovery.

Someone who has migrating joint pain suffers either all over or joint by joint. Health care professionals have 2 classes for migrating joint pain; sub acute or acute. It is believed that the pain is a result of injury or sickness. Typically when someone has rheumatoid arthritis (a chronic, systemic, inflammatory condition), they agonize over migrating joint pain all over the body. From time to time, the painful joints may only feel inflexible or tight. For example, this might occur only in the a.m. This can get really bad when it targets the joints of the wrists, knees, elbows, and ankles. As for systemic lupus erythematous, (an inflammatory infectious tissue disease that is similar to rheumatoid arthritis) migrating joint pain is frequent. One more cause for migrating joint pain can be metabolic. Negative metabolic conditions can cause single joint and or multi-joint pain. Don't forget about viruses such as the common cold, influenza, chicken pox, German measles, and herpes simplex, as they can leave many people with migrating joint pain too. Complications such as inflammation caused by Crohn's disease can cause different strains of arthritis affecting any or all areas of the body. Joints are typically inflamed when the digestive system is malfunctioning as it should. Inflammation as a result of migratory arthritis can continue for days or even weeks and only gets better, in the case of Crohns disease, when the autoimmune system works well. Continue reading
Migrating Joint Pain Solutions is a post from: Health Factors

Joints are typically inflamed when the digestive system is malfunctioning as it should. Inflammation as a result of migratory arthritis can continue for days or even weeks and only gets better, in the case of Crohns disease, when the autoimmune system works well.

There are quite a few other ailments that cause migrating joint pain but the real issue is what can you do about it?

Migratory joint pain can be treated using a number of different herbal remedies. Actea spicata is a natural herbal supplement that can help with migrating joint pain in the feet and hands, and with any swelling and stiffness. Apis Mellifica, another potentially helpful remedy can be taken three times daily to reduce joint pain and to bring down any inflammation. Arctium can also help. This herb supports aids in the reduction of nerve pain as well. This herb is taken every four hours to provide the best pain relief.

Health care providers believe that Belladonna can be very effective in treating migrating joint pain, but ask your doctor first. This herb is helpful when joints are inflamed and painful. Berberis vulgaris is a holistic remedy that lowers joint pain in the knees. It is suggested to take this more than once a day for best results.

For migrating joint pain that becomes worse when you are active, Bryonia Alba taken three times a day can significantly improve your joint condition and eliminate discomfort. It is suggested that dulcamarta should be taken on the hour for joint pain that is severe to mitigate discomfort. It has been found that Chamomilla is effective with acute pain, making it possible for you to move freely.

Migrating joint pain can take over every part of every day life. When this pain strikes, moving around and performing normal activities can become daunting, leading to a cycle that creates even more pain.

If you are suffering from a lot of pain, it is really hard to move around. As a result, your idleness makes the joint discomfort, swelling and stiffness much worse. Exercise may help to keep the joints supple, but when we are hurting, many of us refuse to exercise, and this is a big error. Consult your physician about exercises that focus on migrating joint pain.

There are many choices when it comes to supplements for healthy joints targeting migrating joint pain. A good quality joint remedy should have glucosamine to assist the body in rebuilding cartilage tissue, and antioxidants that will reduce free radical damage of tissue.

Don’t forget to talk with your doctor first before you start a migrating joint pain treatment.

JOINT INFLAMMATION is a very painful, with multiple sets of conditions (100), progressively leading to joint damage, deformity and loss of mobility. Arm and leg joint swelling is typical for this problem. Chronic pain, disability and death are unfortunate results.

Joint problems have a estimated probability of 1 – 2%. Prevalence increases with age, approaching 5% in women over age 55. The average annual incidence in the United States is about 70 per 100,000 annually. Rheumatoid arthritis occurs two to three times more in women than in men. Although rheumatoid arthritis may present at any age, patients most commonly are first affected in the third to sixth decades.

Joint inflammation, collectively affect nearly 46 million adults and 300,000 children in the U.S. It is not selective. The situation can happen to the best of us. All inflammatory joints effect the musculoskeletal system and shift stress to other joints.

Joint inflammation problems include:

pain

stiffness

damage to joint cartilage (the tough, smooth tissue that covers the ends of the bones, enabling them to glide against one another) and surrounding structures.

HOW DO WE GET JOINT INFLAMMATION?

Blood obstruction is caused by the influences of drying, hot-damp, and external cold conditions. The condition includes:

cold or hot and painful joints

difficulty in flexing and extending the joints

aversion to cold or hot with attraction to the opposite condition

In some cases the limbs and joints will be aching, numb, painful

overall physical body feels heavy.

tongue is pale or the opposite

There are graduating arthritic conditions where the site of pain and deformity are more intense, with heat or cold predominating, however, the primary appraoch is to get the obstruction to move. Health is re-established by countering imbalanced internal srtates of wind-cold/hot-damp/dry and altering external situations contributing to obstruction. Very important is the emotional status and its contribution, whether direct or indirect, to the blockage.

HOW DO WE GET BETTER?

JOINT INFLAMMATION: FOOD THERAPY & HERBAL HERBS

“We are what we eat.” Most of us would agree that most conditions of imbalance are determined by what we put in our mouth. We unkowingly create imbalances by not being aware of how critical this area is, especially in the latter years. When we find out the supplements and foods weakens our essence and immunity then it would behove us to learn our constitution and which food that nourish balance. Below, you can begin to choose foods that deliver balance for this obstructive condition:

Foods That Benefit & Foods To Avoid

Foods to Counter Joint Pain: Asparagus, Cabbage (poultice & ingestion), Celery, Cod, Cherry, Chives, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Garlic, Ginger, Goats milk, Grape, Kelp, Oranges, Papaya, Pineapple (Bromelain), Pumpkin Seeds, Royal Jelly, Scallions, Sesame oll, Spelt, Spirulina, Soy products, Strawberry, Sprouts (mung, red clover, radish, mustard, lentil, adzuki, garbanzo, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds), Tumeric, Water melon, Barley products, Wheat grass products, Alfalfa products (tablets, tea), Chlorophyll foods, Almonds (5-6 dy.),

Foods to Avoid: Excess meat (some fish is best), Excess protein, Intoxicants (alcohol, coffee, tobacco, marijuana, etc.), refined sugar and other sweets, Oxalic acid foods (rhubarb, cranberry, plum, chard, beet greens, spinach), Solanine foods (Nightshade family veggies: tomato, eggplant, bell pepper, potato, if sensitive), Dairy (cow’s milk & bi-products), Nuts, Nut butters, oil-rich seeds,

“When the heart is calm, pain seems negligible.” — Inner Classic

HERB FORMULAS FOR PAIN Formulas are created and rendered, taking into consideration, a person’s constitution, environment, life energy (qi), lifestyle and emotional status to name a few concerns. Traditional Chinese Herbs and medicine focuses on bringing all these areas into balance. The primary element is to make an herbal composition with specific emphasis on painful joints while correcting the underlying condition in the body without creating more physical problems.

Additionally, the quality of the herbs are not the same. If lesser quality is contained in a formula then the results will not hold up as indicated in research findings. While it may sound impressive to make marketing statements that a formula containing an herb is beneficial it is not enough. The herbal quality is most essential. Ginseng alone has more than 6 grades and each level provides a different result. Quality, alone, can determine whether the formula works or not. An adept master herbologist will always remain loyal to providing the right formulation while many corporate herb manufacturing firms are persuaded by profit when serving their distributers, wholesalers, retailers and customers. The continuation of this American practice engenders herbology and products with a disreputable name. This bait and switch practice eventually erodes trust by consumers where when a real herbologist comes forward then it is difficult to move ailing customers to take the leap of beneficial faith.

JOINT IMBALANCE doesn’t happen overnight and once understood, can resolve quicker than you realize. According to Traditional Chinese herbs and medicine, the primary problem underlying arthritis is obstruction with painful results. To varying degrees, liver and kidney depletion coupled with energy deficiency will result in exhaustion.

There are various arthritis relief medications available that can help you manage your pain and enjoy your life even if you are undergoing arthritis. However you will need to know what you’re doing before you begin popping pills, so the first thing to do is go to see your health care provider before beginning to take arthritis pain medication. Prolonged intake of most pain killers can cause negative effects in an individual, so it is in your best interests that you reduce the use of pain-relievers for arthritis as much as possible.

Most doctors will recommend that you first try an over the counter NSAID for arthritis pain relief. If you have mild arthritis, non-prescription pain relief medication such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen can provide you satisfactory pain relief. This can be of great help to you if you do not suffer from severe arthritis pain all the time.

As well, a multitude of topical creams and lotions are available for the treatment of arthritis pain. Generally, topical creams will help to minimize the pain from arthritis by going through the skin and deep into the joints. Consider Ben Gay if you have a mild case that you don’t need a prescription in order to treat. As opposed to oral arthritis pain medication that can only be consumed twice daily or less, these relieving creams can be applied as needed without limitation. In addition, topical creams will provide you quick relief and might normally be utilized in conjunction with oral medications for added effectiveness. Take time to speak with your doctor before combining prescriptions, though.

Corticosteroids are another form of arthritis pain medication that alleviates inflammation and regulates the patient’s immune system. You can administer corticosteroids in pill form or through a shot. Methotrexate is another rarer option that’s sometimes used. This specific medication was originally only prescribed to patients who were unresponsive to other methods of treatment.

Whatever over the counter arthritis pain relief medicine you employ to get some relief, you will need to be certain that you speak with your doctor before you take it. There are some folks who, because of liver issues, can’t take prescription or non-prescription pain medicine. If you are taking other medicine, this can cause other health problems if they don’t react well. Be sure to discuss your pain relief plan with your health care provider prior to starting it.

The problem of arthritis isn’t confined to the elderly. It can also develop in younger people.
